Shoebox Novel Study for Grade 6 Students
This activity focuses on the integration of language (reading, writing, oral communication) and the arts (visual arts) in the junior classroom. Students can create their own book in a box display and use this as a visual aid in a class presentation.
Have your students look at home for a shoebox or any other appropriate box that could be used for this project a few weeks ahead of time.
This activity can be broken down into five segments depending on grade level each side of the box will address different elements of the novel that are being addressed . The students are also asked to collect/create six artifacts that relate to the novel chosen. These artifacts will be discussed during oral presentation.
