Graduate Research Conference on Children’s Literature and Cultural Texts
Second to the Right and Straight on Till Morning: Navigating the Narrative Realm(s) of Children’s Texts
Spend a day exploring the wondrous realms of children's literature!
This one-day peer-reviewed conference features graduate research that explores and questions any facet of children’s literature or texts. Keynote speakers, the highly acclaimed Maria Tatar and Philip Nel, guide our journey accompanied by presentations of current and topical student research on children’s literature, and readings by emerging children's writers.
Graduate students are invited to submit paper proposals that contribute to and extend existing research in the area of children’s texts, which may include picture books, novels, virtual texts, graphic novels and other culturally produced modes of children’s literature. The UBC Department of Language and Literacy Education and Vancouver Children's Literature Roundtable are particularly interested in research that draws upon the broadly interpreted themes of navigation, exploration, and narrative. Papers on any children’s or young adult genres are welcome.
