Word Nerd wins 2010 Rocky Mountain Book Award

For Immediate Release (July 2010) - The Rocky Mountain Book Award Committee is pleased to announce the 2010 winner of this Children's Choice Book Award. Word Nerd by Susin Nielsen received the most student votes. Students in Grades 4 - 7 had the opportunity to vote for their favourite book from a list of twenty recently published Canadian titles selected to represent the best in fiction, poetry and non-fiction. The main objective of the award is to encourage students to read exemplary Canadian literature. Teachers/Schools registered in this project before January 16th, 2010. Students read 5 titles or more from the list and voted electronically for their favorite book before April 23rd, 2010.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Toronto (July 15, 2010) ― The Canadian Children’s Book Centre (CCBC) is pleased to announce the finalists for the 2010 TD Canadian Children’s Literature Award, Prix TD de littérature canadienne pour l’enfance et la jeunesse, Marilyn Baillie Picture Book Award, Norma Fleck Award for Canadian Children’s Non-Fiction and Geoffrey Bilson Award for Historical Fiction for Young People.
