Biography
I began writing seriously when I was in my early forties, after years of boring everyone with stories of how I was going to write a book someday. Writing for young people came most naturally as I’d fostered over 70 teens in my own home, as well as having worked as the Executive Director of a group home for adolescents for over ten years. When I had half a dozen books or so published I took the big step of leaving my job and writing full-time. While it means making do with a lot less financially, the personal rewards are worth some sacrifices.
Writing is the best job I’ve ever had and I enjoy sharing my work and enthusiasm for reading and writing with students.
OTHER PRESENTATIONS:
I offer a Professional Development workshop with practical exercises on Getting Reluctant Readers into Books.
