I am always interested in speaking to teachers and librarians about how to choose effective children’s books and integrating them across the curriculum. I also can share how to run a storybook writing workshop in a school or library.

Biography

Ever since the second grade, Tina Powell knew that her mission in life was to entertain, inspire and educate children through the written word. After years as an accomplished journalist and advertising copywriter, Tina embraced the genre of children's literature when her own children were born. Several of her short stories were published in Chickadee Magazine and her children’s picture books (Moulin Publishing) quickly became bestsellers.

As an independent author and publisher, Tina now publishes under the Big Fat Pen Publishing imprint. Her popular picture books amuse and empower children, while celebrating the special view they have of the world. Through Big Fat Pen's corporate publishing program, she has reached over 600,000 children and worked with companies, such as Boar’s Head Provisions, Canada Bread, Mars Canada, and Procter & Gamble.
Tina has written for Canadian Business Magazine, em>Time Magazine, em>The Toronto Star, and em>Canadian Health and Lifestyle. She is the recipient of the 2005 Mississauga Arts Emerging Literary Arts Award.
