Stones, Bones and Stitches: Storytelling through Inuit Art
Explore the evolving character of the North through the lens of some of Canada’s most significant Inuit artists. During the presentation participants will be able to handle objects such as whalebone, stone, and tools used to create sculpture in Canada’s north. They will also learn about the printmaking process and create their own prints through a modified process similar to that used in the Inuit printmaking studios. This studio introduces participants to the basics of printmaking by adapting the relief printing techniques used by Inuit artists to commonly available mediums such as plasticine and foam to create their own original mono prints.
