Biography

Nancy has been writing for children for over 20 years. She has mainly focussed on picture books, but has also produced poetry and short stories for children’s magazines, as well as a middle grade novel. She has published nine picture books, with the tenth coming out in the fall of 2008. Her job as an elementary school teacher-librarian surrounds her with books, children and inspiration for writing. As a children’s writer, her priorities are using language that is thought-provoking, unique and wherever possible, beautiful. She is also very interested in the atmosphere created for a story.

She began her writing career by taking a correspondence course in writing for children. After selling some of her course assignments to magazines, she was on her way! She has used her own three children as inspiration for her books, as well as her own childhood and experiences she has had with her students.
