A cheat code for writing stories. Through interactive demonstrations and writing exercises, Marty Chan offers tips and tricks for writing. Students will learn how to make their stories engaging using a simple formula for creating drama that can be used in stage plays and fiction.

Biography
Young adult novelist, playwright, television writer and humorist, Marty Chan has been writing for over 16 years. His kids’ book, The Mystery of the Graffiti Ghoul, has been nominated for the Arthur Ellis Award (juvenile crime fiction category), the Golden Eagle Children’s Choice Award, the Manitoba Young Readers Choice Award and the Saskatchewan Young Readers Choice Award. He was the story editor on the television series Incredible Story Studio. He currently writes humour articles for the Edmonton Journal. For more information about Marty, go to www.martychan.com.

Keynote presentations for teachers and librarians. Marty presents a funny and poignant keynote speech about the value of stories. Through personal anecdotes, he reveals the power of stories to bring people together. His touching story of his grandmother’s sacrifice during China’s Cultural Revolution reminds audiences why stories matter.
