Readings

My presentations are interactive and tailored to specific grades. I talk about where my ideas come from, how the first draft is written (I bring rough drafts along), and the writing life including revisions and rejections. Each presentation includes a reading and I leave plenty of time for questions. High school students are often interested in my background as a journalist for CBC or wonder how they might submit to publishers; I’m happy to discuss both. I’m also more than willing to devote the entire hour to Lesia’s Dream and its related topics of Ukrainian immigration to Canada, internment, racism and discrimination.

Special Equipment:

A large table for presentation material; a blackboard, whiteboard or flip chart; an overhead projector and screen (if presenting a writing workshop); and a microphone for groups of 100 or more (or if I’m presenting in a gymnasium or auditorium).

Copies of books can be brought to be sold and autographed for local readings. For readings across Canada, with advance notice Laura can arrange to have books available to purchase.
