I do a brief reading from my children’s adventure novel Chocolate River Rescue, followed by a Q&A session. I have some visual aids and photographs from an actual helicopter rescue on the Petitcodiac River.

Biography

Jennifer McGrath Kent is a freelance writer, children’s author, essayist and playwright. She has taught English courses at the University of Moncton and Mount Allison University. She received her B.A. Honours degree in English from St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia before going on to earn a Masters Degree in Literature from the University of Victoria in British Columbia. She writes and performs creativity workshops for school-age children with a focus on literacy, oral story-telling and drama. No stranger to the stage, Jennifer has also taught theatre classes for children at the Capital Theatre School of the Performing Arts in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Jennifer grew up in Hillsborough, New Brunswick and spent much of her time exploring the woods and abandoned gypsum quarries in the hills of Albert County, and riding along the dykes of the Petitcodiac River on horseback.
In addition to children’s literature and theatre, Jennifer’s interests and writing topics include folk-lore and fairy-tales, nature and wildlife, country living, Celtic mythology, movies and screen-writing. Her first children’s novel, Chocolate River Rescue, is published by Nimbus Publishing.
