Story and Literacy: The Reader's Journey - Tackles literacy education from the storytellers point of view. A thought-provoking discussion of how readers and authors interact to create fiction. (Approximately 50 minutes)
Biography
Diane Tullson is the author of nine books for young adult readers including The Darwin Expedition, one of Orca Books' highly successful series for reluctant teen readers. She has been awarded the American Library Association Best Books, the New York Public Library Books for the Teen Age, BC Stellar, and has been nominated for the Quick Picks, Stellar, Red Maple, and White Pine awards.
Diane Tullson began her career writing for magazines and has studied journalism and editing. She has recently completed an MFA in Creative Writing with a focus on creating excellent fiction for reluctant adolescent readers. For a year and a half Diane Tullson and her family sailed in the Atlantic and Mediterranean, an experience that shapes her writing, especially her award-winning novel, Red Sea, a gripping adventure story of modern-day piracy. Resource Links says, “This is a book that needs to be in every library for grade seven and up.”
Diane Tullson lives with her family in Delta, BC.
