Readings
Being both author and illustrator of my book, I can concentrate on each aspect of the creative process. I would start by showing the four minute animated short of my story, which I also directed. The short is a straight reading of the text by hockey legend Bob Cole, and will provide a great launch pad for discussion with the children.
I would love to get right into the drawing process by showing the transformation of the artwork from thumbnail sketches to finished artwork. I would also get the children involved in drawing, perhaps teach them some basics of the figure and/or perspective. I have done some of this in the past, and children really seem to respond to actually seeing the process behind drawing.
Special Equipment:
Large paper pad on easel, or whiteboard; TV with DVD player.
Book Sales:
Copies of books can be brought to be sold and autographed.
