Biography

Beryl Young is the author of numerous articles, poems and stories. Her novel for young children "Wishing Star Summer" was a CCBC recommended book and was nominated for many awards. It tells the story of a family who invited a young girl from Belarus who had been exposed to Chernobyl radiation to live with them for a summer in Vancouver. The story is told with humour and compassion. Beryl has three children and four grandchildren and lives in Vancouver.

Follow the Elephant: The story for 10 - 13 year olds is about a thirteen year old boy travels with his grandmother on an adventure quest to India. The dark mysteries of the exotic country help Ben to come to terms with his father's death.

Charlie: A Home Child's Life in Canada: A non-fiction intermediate novel about an English orphan sent to Canada in 1911 to work an an indenture farm worker who must make a new life in Canada.
