Biography

On October 19 2006, André Paul officially launched the publishing and production company Studio André Paul as well as the first volume of the Franco Canadian children's book series Léo et Julien.

The characters, the texts, the scenes and situations are all inspired by his children’s daily lives. Each volume of the series represents a different day of the week. Léo (the dog) and Julien (the cat) are young, playful and curious animals discovering the world around them. The first volume, aptly titled Léo et Julien: Lundi à la maison (Leo and Julien: Monday at home) introduces the two main characters of the series. Volume two, Léo et Julien: Mardi au parc (Leo and Julien: Tuesday at the park) introduces Léo and Julien’s friends, Camille and Lysanne, two sweet little birds. Volume three of the series, Léo et Julien: Mercredi il pleut (Wednesday it‘s raining), offers a day were Léo and Julien’s imaginations have no limit.

The Franco Canadian text is short and to the point, allowing children to follow along and learn to read. It is a great introduction to Franco Canadian literature for children attending French immersion classes. The book always offers full page coloured illustrations where the characters share the scene. The joyful spirits and positive attitudes of Léo and Julien, allow children to discover the little joys in life.

André Paul is the author, illustrator and publisher of the Léo et Julien children's book series and his wife Angela Rhea is the colorist.
