Conflict Resolution

The following activity uses Please, Louise! to introduce kindergarten students to the issue of conflict resolution. This picture book was written by Frieda Wishinsky, illustrated by Marie-Louise Gay and published by Groundwood Books.

Step #1: Ask the children if they have ever had an argument with a friend or sibling.

Step #2: Read the picture book to the children.

Step #3: Ask the children to identify the characters in the story.

Step #4: Ask the children to identify what the characters are feeling.

Step #5: Ask the children if they remember a time when the felt the same way.

Step #6: Ask the children to identify the problem in the story. How was it solved?
