Bullying

The following activity uses The Tale of Sir Dragon: Dealing with Bullies for Kids (and DRAGONS) to introduce kindergarten students to the issue of bullying. This picture book was written by Jean E. Pendziwol, illustrated by Martine Gourbault and published by Kids Can Press.

Step #1: Ask the children if they know what bullying means.

Step #2: Read the picture book to the children.

Step #3: Ask the children to identify the characters in the story.

Step #4: Ask the children to identify what the characters are feeling.

Step #5: Ask the children if they remember a time when the felt the same way.

Step #6: Ask the children to identify the problem in the story. How was it solved?

Step #7:Ask the students if they know what to do if they ever feel like they are being bullied.

Step #8: Discuss with the children what it feels like to be bullied.
