TD Grade One Book Giveaway Program 2012

Français

I've Lost My CatSince 2000, in cooperation with ministries of education, school boards and library organizations across Canada — the CCBC has given every Grade One student a free Canadian children’s book.

The book is to be taken home by each child to keep and to read with their parents. This far-reaching annual book giveaway program, which provides over 500,000 books to Grade One children across Canada, is fully funded by TD Bank Group.

This fall, Grade One children nation-wide will take home I've Lost My Cat, written and illustrated by Philippe Béha, and published by Éditions Imagine. This title is also available in French as J'ai perdu mon chat.

In this delightful tale, a young boy loses his cat – he’s round, he’s cute, he’s yellow, black and white, and his name is Greyling. The boy’s friends all try to find Greyling and they bring the young boy all sorts of animals that somewhat match the description of his cat. They bring him a leopard, a pig and an elephant... but none of them are Greyling. Oh where has his little cat gone?

The coordination of the TD Grade One Book Giveaway Program is done by the Canadian Children's Book Centre. School boards and ministries of education in all provinces will be contacted in the fall for their Grade One enrolment numbers. If you have any questions regarding the 2012 program, please contact Jennifer Gordon at jennifer@bookcentre.ca.
