Writing for Children Competition

Given by the Writers’ Union of Canada, this annual award was initiated to discover, encourage, and promote new writers of children’s literature. The competition is open to Canadian authors not previously published in book format and who do not currently have a contract with a publisher. Entries must be text only, up to 1500 words in length and accompanied by an entry fee of $15. The recipient receives a cash prize of $1,500. The first award was handed out in 1997.
